As science teachers, one of our primary goals is to create ideal conditions for students to grow their content knowledge and skills in science.  But often students come into our classrooms with misconceptions that get in the way.  Sometimes we need to bust the false knowlege our students have acquired before we can really get them to reach deep levels of understanding of important scientific concepts.

Shockingly, some students enter my classroom with skepticism over whether or not we went to the moon during the Apollo space program.  Though I generally think that skepticism is a good thing in science, this falsehood that is often seeded by popular media outlets, needs to be quashed.  Let me say it clearly: We went to the moon!  Heck, we even left our waste there.  This amusing video talks about that waste, as well as other things left of the moon that not only prove we went there, but also serve a useful pupose to planetary scientists.
